How to publish an article in a scientific journal?

Step 1:
Choose a journal:

Choose a journal in the appropriate subject area. Check out its description on the journal page.

If your manuscript matches the journal's subject area, then proceed to step 2.

Step 2:
Online service:

Sign up to the Pleiades Publishing portal as an author and log in.

NOTE: Confirm the registration by following the link from the letter sent to your e-mail address. Your account will be inactive until the registration is confirmed.

Follow the instructions to submit the manuscript to the journal of your choice.

Some journals are still being added to the portal and may not be available for the submission of articles.

Step 3:
Check out guidelines for manuscript preparation:

On the journal page find the guidelines for manuscript preparation and familiarize yourself with the general requirements, requirements on the subject matter, manuscript length, and accompanying documents. If you cannot find guidelines for manuscript preparation on the journal page, please contact the editorial board.

If your manuscript meets the requirements, then proceed to step 4.

Step 4:
Fill in the copyright transfer agreement form:

Download a copyright transfer agreement form from the journal page and fill it in. Collect the signatures of all coauthors. If the manuscript is rejected, agreements will not come into force.

Proceed to manuscript preparation.

Step 5:
Manuscript preparation:

Check out technical requirements in the manuscript preparation guidelines. If you find no guidelines for a specific journal, use the publisher's general guidelines.

Illustrations should be prepared according to the publisher's general guidelines for manuscript preparation in any case.
It is recommended to use the publisher's style file (optional).

When you finish manuscript preparation, please proceed to step 6.

Step 6:
Manuscript submission:

Submit your manuscript and accompanying documents to the editorial board via the publishing portal. If the journal is not available at the portal, submit your manuscript to the editorial board via e-mail or by other means as indicated in the guidelines for authors. The e-mail address is indicated in the Contact Info on the journal page. Expect a reply from the editorial board. If none is received in 7–10 days, please contact the editorial board again by e-mail or phone.

Note that the publisher has no information on the status of a manuscript nor contact information on the journal editors other than those shown on this web site.

Please wait for a reply from the editorial board.

Step 7:
Manuscript acceptance:

Please follow the instructions of the editorial board and revise your manuscript if requested. If the manuscript is accepted for publication, the editorial board will provide you with the year, volume, and issue the article will be published in, separately for the English- and Russian-language journals, as well as an approximate date the manuscript will be sent to the publisher.

Further steps are applicable only if the CRC of a journal is prepared by LLC "АKADEMKNIGA." Please check with the editorial board to find out who prepares the CRC.

Step 8:
Publishing house confirmation:

If your manuscript is published in a Russian-language journal, then within two weeks after transfer of the manuscript to the publisher, you will receive an e-mail message with an approximate date that the galley proof will be sent to the authors. If you do not receive this message, please check with the editorial board when your manuscript has to be transferred to the publisher, your e-mail address, and whether messages were sent for the chosen journal. If the date passes and your address is correct, but the message has not been received, then please inquire at our office:
If your manuscript is intended for the English-language journal only, this message may be sent after one or two months, when the entire issue is ready.

Wait for a message with a galley proof attached.

Step 9:
Working with a galley proof:

All necessary instructions will be attached to the e-mail message.

You may check the status of your manuscript using contact information indicated on the journal page.

Step 10:
Receipt of a published article in electronic form:

When work on the article is finished, you will receive the final version in PDF format. At this stage changes in the article cannot be made. If you find critical errors (in the names of authors or scientific data), please reply to the e-mail message as soon as possible. In this case, we will be able to publish an erratum.
