AbstractParameter estimates of the process of passage into water of 234U and 238U isotopes with inequilib-
rium ratios during 238U decay in rock are given. The Northern Dvina Depression is used as an example to show
that data on the fractionation of natural U isotopes can be used to assess the duration of the contact of fresh
infiltration water of atmospheric origin with rocks, as well as the presence in rocks of areas with higher U con-
centrations, with which groundwater with higher radioactivity is associated.
