Abstract—New data on iron concentration and distribution in solution and suspension in the water of the Amur
and its major tributaries (the rivers of Bureya, Sungary, etc.) collected in 2006–2009 are given. The distribution
of iron over river gauges and along the Amur was found to be uneven. The correlation between iron and humic
acids was for the first time assessed in rivers and lakes of the Middle and Lower Amur basin.

Keywords: iron, surface water, organic matter, humic acids
