Abstract—This paper provides a review of methods of initial strike prey capture (suction, ram, and biting) in different representatives of Teleostei at the definitive stage of development, including the characteristics of the morphological features of their feeding apparatus. It describes new features of the structure of the jaw apparatus of some Teleostei species that indicate the separate or simultaneous use of several methods to strike food.
