Abstract—A hysteresis equation of state is proposed for polycrystalline solids with saturation of nonlinear
losses. Effects of amplitude-dependent internal friction and higher harmonic generation that result from prop-
agation of harmonic acoustic waves in rods made of such materials are theoretically and numerically studied.
