Abstract—The results of studies on the thermal degradation products of the vitrinites of coals of different ranks
are presented. The degree of conversion of the humus organic matter of vitrinites for a number of coals of ranks
from D to T into liquid products in benzene had a maximum for the vitrinites of ranks Zh and K. It was found
that the concentrations of preasphaltenes and hydrocarbons in the resulting liquid products decreased and the
concentration of asphaltenes increased with the maturity of vitrinites.
