Abstract—A technological scheme has been developed for the utilization of a water–tar mass containing toxic organic compounds from the phenol series formed in the course of coal gasification. Coal tar pitch was obtained based on the multiple distillation of the separated tar mass, and its application to the production of carbon electrodes was investigated.
