Abstract—Data are presented on the acid–base buffering properties of organic horizons of soils forming a
sequence with increasing degree of hydromorphism in different conditions of natural drainage. Tendencies were
revealed in changes of the acid–base buffering of water and salt extracts and water suspensions from these hori-
zons observed with the increase in the degree of hydromorphism and dependency on the degree of decomposi-
tion of organic matter and variations in other soil properties.
