Abstract—The clay fraction from soddy-podzolic gleyic soils on the moraine underlain by pyrrhotine ore was
studied by means of X-ray diffraction analysis and infrared spectrometry. The results obtained show that lay-
ered silicates in these soils are subjected to degradation and low-selective etching under the impact of sulfuric
acid, which forms during pyrrhotine oxidation.
