Abstract—Data on carbon reserves in litter horizons and in the upper 1-m-thick mineral layer of the soils in
the Central Forest State Biospheric Reserve are reported with consideration for the soil cover pattern. It is
shown that the total amount of organic carbon in the soils is largely controlled by the specifics of the soil water
regime.
