Abstract—Combustion of Me + 2B, (Me1 + Me2 + Me3 + Me4) + 8B, and (Me1 + Me2 + Me3 + Me4 + Me5) + 10B mixtures (Me = Ti, Hf, Nb, Zr, Ta) aiming at the preparation of a high-entropy metal diboride by SHS method was studied by using XRD and SEM analyses. We succeeded to prepare high-entropy diboride [TiHfZrNbTa]B2 by SHS method from the above mixtures in a considerably good yield (54 vol %). Our results may turn interesting to those engaged in R & D of new high-entropy borides.
