Abstract—Influence of added Ti + C mixtures on the metallothermic SHS of cast MoSiBTiC composites in the Mo–Si–B system in conditions of artificial gravity (a = 100 g) was explored by SEM/EDS and XRD. With increasing amount of added Ti + C powder blend (up to 5 wt %), the Mo content of resultant MoSiBTiC composite was found to decrease, that of Ti and C to gradually grow, while that of Si and B to change only slightly. Synthesized composites were found to contain four structural constituents: Mo-based solid solution Mo(ss), [Mo]5SiB2, [Mo,Ti]2C, and [Mo,Ti,]C.
