Abstract—Silumin of the eutectic composition is treated by a high-intensity electron beam and a multiple increase in material fatigue service life is revealed. The structure of the modified layer and the failure surface of silumin subjected to fatigue multicycle destruction tests are investigated by scanning electron microscopy. Factors responsible for an increase in its fatigue service life are established and analyzed.
