Abstract—For radiation-induced polymerization of styrene in highly concentrated (gel-like) emulsions, the
effect of the initiation rate on the kinetics of polymerization and the molecular mass of the resulting polymer
was studied. It was found that the rate of initiation (irradiation intensity) does not affect the rate of polymeriza-
tion, the number of latex particles, and the duration of the first stage. The molecular mass of polystyrene varies
in inverse proportion to the radiation intensity, and its molecular mass distribution corresponds to the Flory dis-
tribution.
