AbstractThe effect of a uniform magnetic field on the viscous and elastic properties of new, rubber-elastic,
magnetically guided polymeric materials (magnetoelastics) capable of substantial deformation in an external
magnetic field was studied. It was found that the application of a magnetic field leads to a considerable rise in
the Young modulus and in the viscosity coefficient of these materials. A model is proposed which describes the
effect of magnetic field on the elasticity parameters. Based on the obtained experimental data, the influence of
an external magnetic field and a magnetoelastic-stretching force F on the volume fraction of polymer regions
contracted by interaction of magnetic particles is considered in terms of the proposed theoretical model.
