LC Polymers with -Ketoester Groups
and Their Enolization

Abstract—New liquid-crystalline polyesters were synthesized with the main chain containing mesogenic frag-
ments obtained from terephthaloyl-bis(hydroxybenzoyl chloride) and 1,6-hexanediol and tautomeric fragments
formed from terephthaloyl-bis(hydroxybenzoyl chloride) and bis(6-hydroxyhexyl)-1,4-cyclohexanedione-
2,5dicarboxylate. Their enolization was studied by ¹H NMR spectroscopy, and a linear relationship was estab-
lished between the enolization ratio and the proportion of the mesogenic fragment.
