Abstract— The paper provides a review of experimental and numerical studies of deformation-induced surface roughening in loaded metals and alloys. Consideration is given to various parameters for assessing strain-induced surface roughness, factors influencing the roughness characteristics, and models describing surface roughening in polycrystalline alloys.
