Abstract—Using a response function method, a mathematical model of plant growth and development has
been developed on the basis of the current notion of “genotype–environment” interaction. The model accounts
for the major environmental factors that affect plant growth and development. It also makes it possible to esti-
mate important physiological characteristics of plants, such as optimum environmental conditions for plant
growth and development, minimum biological period of development, etc.

Key words: development - response function - mathematical simulation
