Abstract—Narrow-band luminescence has been observed at the short-wavelength edge of the luminescence
spectrum of polyethylene and polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon), polymers in wide use today. The characteristics
of this luminescence permit its assignment to the radiation emitted in recombination of ruptured C–C bonds of
polymer chains.
