AbstractThe phase transition polydomain statesingle-domain state with exchange springs in the antifer-
romagnetic interlayer of the spin-valve ferromagnetantiferromagnetferromagnet structure, which occurs as
the ratio of the interlayer thickness to the width of atomic steps on the interfaces between the layers increases,
has been investigated using mathematical simulation. The critical value of this ratio, at which the phase transi-
tion occurs, and the deflection of exchange springs that appear at the interfaces between the layers have been
determined in a wide range of values of the single-ion anisotropy constant.
