Abstract—Effects of the decomposition of the supercooled 1 phase on the martensitic transformation in
CuAl–Mn alloys is considered. Variation of the martensitic transformation temperature upon isostructural
decomposition of the 1 phase is related to the formation of regions both enriched in and depleted of manga-
nese, as well as to the precipitation of Cu2MnAl particles that do not undergo martensitic transformation. In
some cases, such a decomposition leads to the development of a two-stage martensitic transformation in two
nonoverlapping temperature ranges.
