Abstract—A large Barkhausen jump (LBJ) model is proposed in which the potential-relief gradient (PRG) is
fitted with a piecewise-polynomial function. In the model, the PRG parameters can be varied independently,
which makes it possible to investigate the dynamics of the irreversible motion of the domain wall and to explain
two LBJ mechanisms observed previously [1]. The findings of the study have been drawn upon in developing
the process for the manufacture of bistable Vicalloy specimens.
