Abstract—The Poisson ration —the ratio of transverse and longitudinal deformations under uniaxial ten-
sion—is a function of the limiting root-mean-square displacements of atoms frame1 from equilibrium posi-
tions. The volume of fluctuation hole frame2h serves as a measure of root-mean-square atomic displacements frame3
for vitreous systems. An empirical linear dependence of the quantity (1 – 2) on the fluctuation hole volume frame4h
is established.
