Abstract—The pseudoboehmite sols have been synthesized by the peptization with acids and salts of the
hydrogel formed upon precipitation of aluminum salts. The effective concentrations of the peptizing agents
have been determined. The best peptizing agents for the pseudoboehmite have been chosen from the standpoint
of the electronegativity and the acceptor capacity. The changes in the viscosity and shear stress of the pseudo-
boehmite sols have been investigated as functions of the nature and concentration of peptizing agents.
