Abstract—A complete set of thermodynamic functions for the Na2O–P2O5 system in the composition range
40–75 mol % Na2O is studied by the emf technique. The investigations are carried out in the temperature range
750–1300 K. The data are normalized to the pure oxides. There are considerable negative deviations of the free
energy and the enthalpy of formation from the ideal behavior. The results obtained are discussed in terms of the
acid–base interaction between the components. The chemical structure and thermodynamic properties of melts
are modeled within the theory of ideal associated solutions. It is found that the experimental and calculated data
are in good agreement.
