Initial Reactions in the Luminolframe0Hypochlorite System

Abstract—A quantum-chemical modeling of the luminol anion + hypochlorous acid molecule and neutral
luminol molecule + hypochlorite molecule alternative reactions reveals that the activation barrier is sufficiently
low only for the latter reaction, being indicative of its high rate constant. The interaction of the neutral luminol
and the hypochlorite results in the addition of the hypochlorite molecule to the carbon atom of the hydrazide
fragment.
