Abstract—The effect of lanthanum doping on grain growth during liquid-phase sintering of barium titanate in
the range of oxygen partial pressures 0.02–0.5 MPa is studied. Based on data obtained, the effect of nonstoichi-
ometry on the formation of microstructure of doped BaTiO3 is considered. It is shown that the content of non-
stoichiometry defects in the solid phase in the course of sintering can essentially affect the grain growth.
