Abstract—An influence of the concentration of psoralen on hemolysis induced by the preliminarily photoox-
idized psoralen was studied. It was shown that the yield of photoproducts, hemolysins, increased with psoralen
concentration if the initial concentrations of irradiated psoralen were small (less than 20 mM); a further increase
in psoralen concentration resulted in a decline in hemolysin yield. At high psoralen concentrations (higher than
20 mM), the triplet excited states of psoralen were suggested to be quenched with the unexcited psoralen mol-
ecules, and hemolysin formation was prevented.
