AbstractIt is shown that the Simon fusion equation is exact if the ratio of the heat (or internal energy) of
fusion to the volume jump is a linear function of pressure. Based on the KlausiusClapeyron equation, a fusion
curve equation is obtained, which generalizes the Simon equation. The new equation describes rising and
descending fusion curves and fusion curves with maxima. The parameters of the equation are given a thermo-
dynamic justification. The equation well approximates fusion curves of substances of various natures in wide
temperature and pressure ranges.
