Abstract—The relationship between some molecular parameters of surfactants and their aggregation charac-
teristics, such as the critical micellization concentration (CMC), the average aggregation number, and the aggre-
gation number distribution at the CMC, was investigated within the framework of the Nagarajan–Ruckenstein
quasi-chemical model. The influence of the parameters of the hydrophobic moiety (the number of carbon atoms
and the Gibbs energy of transfer from the bulk water solution into the hydrocarbon core of the micelle) and of
model parameters of polar groups on the aggregation characteristics was determined. The effect of the double
bonds of the hydrocarbon radical and the influence of salts added to the solution were evaluated. Factors affect-
ing the growth of micelles were discussed.
