Abstract—The vaporization of neodymium trichloride was studied by high-temperature mass spectrometry in
the temperature range 872–1147 K. Saturated vapor over neodymium trichloride largely consisted of mono-
meric and a small amount (1–1.5%) of dimeric molecules. The partial vapor component pressures were deter-
mined and the enthalpies of sublimation sHframe0(298.15 frame1) in the form of monomeric and dimeric molecules were
calculated by the second and third laws of thermodynamics. This gave 317 5 and 440 20 kJ/mol for NdCl3
and Nd2Cl6, respectively.
