Abstract—Different regimes of density convective motions in a rotating fluid from an isolated buoyancy source
are considered. It is shown that, along with geostrophic regimes of convection, the regimes of an inclined rotat-
ing turbulent jet and the regime of an anticyclonic rotating cylindrical vortex exist in water. Different approxi-
mations that are used to describe convective motions in a rotating fluid in both quasi-geostrophic and other
regimes are classified.
