Abstract—An approximate method is used to solve the problem of scattering of a surface gravity wave by a
submerged obstacle in the form of a small sphere moving with a constant velocity under the free surface of a
fluid. It is shown that the field of scattered waves has singularities: the amplitude of the scattered wave diverges
logarithmically along some directions if the frequency of an incident wave and the velocity of motion are sub
jected to a certain condition. The region of the parameters of resonance waves is calculated.
