Part 2: Integral Characteristics of the World Ocean Climate
(Mass, Heat, and Salt Transports)*

Abstract—The paper continues a previous work [1], where the oceanic general circulation model and the one-
degree average hydrographic data from the World Ocean Atlas 1994 were used to carry out adjustment calcu-
lations of the annual average fields of temperature, salinity, and currents in the world ocean on a one-degree
grid at 32 levels. This paper analyzes the transport of mass, heat, and salt between particular oceans and in the
world ocean as a whole. The main integral climate characteristics such as mass, heat, and salt transport across
the meridional and zonal sections governing the world ocean climate are calculated. The general annual char-
acteristics of mass, heat, and salt exchange in the ocean are discussed.
