Abstract— There are known difficulties in achieving a high precision of calibration for embedded-type rotation angle sensors by the conventional methods based on the use of external flat angle etalons. The results of analyzing the most important feature in the application of special self-referential rotary units, which make it possible to improve the precision of calibration without engaging external flat angle etalons for the rotation angle sensors incorporated into angle-measuring systems of increased precision class, are reviewed. The application of a similar approach in angle-measuring systems of industrial purpose is forecasted.
