Abstract—The possibilities for the tomography of objects in a water medium at acoustic waves by means of circular aperture synthesis were experimentally validated. An experimental setup implementing the method of reconstructing an image of objects in a cross section from a trajectory Doppler signal was created. The image is reconstructed by scanning an object placed inside a rotating cylindrical reservoir with water by means of circular synthetic aperture focusing. The focusing and image construction algorithms were described. Experiment was performed with the simplest test objects, such as a metallic point object and a metallic rod of 2 mm in diameter and 10 cm in length. The problems in the implementation of circular aperture synthesis with the use of a cylindrical rotating reservoir with water and piezotransducers fastened to its inner wall were discussed.
