AbstractThe results of the temperature profiles and heat flux field studies in the upper layer of the bottom sed-
iments of Amurskiy Bay in the Sea of Japan are presented. These studies were carried out from November 22 to
March 25, 2010. The obtained values of the heat flux from the sediments to the water layer can explain the forma-
tion of the warm water layer with high salinity near the bottom in Amurskiy Bay during the winter season.
