AbstractThe data on the comparative analysis of the distribution of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in the
White Sea according to the results of the 1991 and 1997 summer expeditions are presented. The principal dis-
tribution features, caused by hydrological conditions in the White Sea bays and basin, are shown to be con-
served. The interannual variability of the intensity of the productiondestruction processes in the sea areas stud-
ied causes significant variations of the DOM contents in the photic layers of both the bays and the basin.
