Abstract—Quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the bottom biocenoses of the North Caspian Sea are
discussed. The following biocenoses are distinguished at three levels: superbiocenoses of fresh and brackish
waters, biocenoses, and subbiocenoses of brackish waters.
