Abstract—A comparative analysis of the features of the processes such as the formation of the salinity and
desalination of the water column, the changes in the content and chemical composition of particulate matter,
current velocities, and species composition of zooplankton is presented made on the basis of the results of
detailed studies in the estuaries of the Keret’ and Kem’ rivers on the Karelian coast of the White Sea performed
in 2000–2003.
