AbstractThe evidence on the structure and features of the quantitative distribution of the bottom fauna of the
Canary Upwelling obtained during cruise 10 of R/V Vityaz2 and cruise 40 of R/V Akademik Kurchatov are
presented. A special emphasis is placed on the study of the taxonomic structure and features of the fauna of the
madreporic and gorgonian corals. The bottom animals of the test area are shown to occupy the intermediate
position between the common tropic shelf communities and extremely oligomixed communities of intensive
upwellings.
