Abstract—Total activity coefficients and complexity rates of cobalt and nickel were determined from the
experimental solubilities of cobalt and nickel hydroxides in seawater. The proportions of free cobalt and nickel
ions in seawater at pH < equal 8 comprise about 50 and 35%, respectively, which accords well with the results of cal-
culations of existence forms.
