AbstractReidentification of the paleomagnetic anomalies allows us to compile a new map of chrons for the
Mid-Indian Basin. Its analysis showed that the Mesozoic adjustment of the spreading systems in the basin
occurred 8590 My B.P. The age of the soft collision of the western and eastern parts of the major Indian
plate is 6267 Ma, while that of its central part is 58 Ma. The latter was accompanied by a simultaneous hard
collision in the east that resulted in a southward jump of the spreading axes of the Warton Ridge by 10

.
The hard collision in the west that happened 4042 My B.P. resulted in an adjustment of the entire spreading
system in the region considered.
