Abstract—The current state of studies on eukaryotic DNA polymerases is discussed. Special attention is paid
to the structure and function of DNA polymerases, interaction of these enzymes with auxiliary factors in repli-
cation and repair ensembles, and regulation of their activity in the cell cycle. Along with the known DNA poly-
merases , , , , and , the properties of recently found DNA polymerases from yeast and a novel DNA
polymerase of the repair type isolated from calf thymus and teleost fish eggs are considered.

Key words: DNA polymerase, DNA replication, DNA repair
