AbstractThe electrolytically prepared active alumina contains excess sodium ions. To decrease their concen-
tration, a special mode of electrolysis (finishing treatment) should be used at the final stage of aluminum
hydroxide synthesis. The studies of the effect of the finishing treatment on the textural properties of aluminum
hydroxide obtained are presented. A difference between the suggested method and the conventional peptization
is demonstrated. A hypothesis on the nature of contacts between the primary particles of aluminum hydroxide
is advanced.
