Abstract—Crystal-chemical analysis of 76 compounds containing 166 IrCn or IrCnIrm coordination polyhedra
has been performed with the use of Voronoi–Dirichlet (VD) polyhedra. This analysis shows that the volume of
the VD polyhedra of Ir atoms is roughly independent of their CN, which changes from 4 to 11, despite the fact
that Ir–C and Ir–Ir bond lengths change in a wide range (1.66–2.85 and 2.55–2.89 Å, respectively). The param-
eters of VD polyhedra make it possible to quantitatively estimate major features of the stereochemistry of irid-
ium as a function of the nature (C or Ir) and number (n changes from 2 to 11 and m, from 0 to 7) of atoms in
the first coordination sphere.
