NaFCaF₂YbF₃ Phase Diagram

Abstract—Vertical sections CaF₂Na_0.4Yb_0.6F_2.2 and NaFCa_0.75Yb_0.25F_2.25 of the system NaFCaF₂YbF₃ were
studied by differential thermal analysis. A fluorite solid solution belt between phases of variable composition
Ca_1xYb_xF_2x and Na_0.5xYb_{0.5 x}F_2+2x was discovered. A liquidus-surface projection was constructed. The
solidification character of the solid solution is unfavorable for growth of optical-quality ternary mixed crystals.
