Na0.4Yb0.6F2.2 and NaF
Ca0.75Yb0.25F2.25 of the system NaF
CaF2
YbF3 were
studied by differential thermal analysis. A fluorite solid solution belt between phases of variable composition
Ca1
xYbxF2
x and Na0.5
xYb0.5
xF2+2x was discovered. A liquidus-surface projection was constructed. The
solidification character of the solid solution is unfavorable for growth of optical-quality ternary mixed crystals.
