Abstract—Physical and chemical properties of substituted polystyrene-azosalicylic acids, newly synthesized
chelating polymer sorbents (CPSs), are studied. Correlations are found between the frame0Kframe1frame2frame3frame4 of the functional
groups of the sorbent and the pframe550 of chelation with vanadium, manganese, and chromium, with the goal of
studying (metal ion)–sorbent interactions. These correlations enable the prediction of the physical and chemical
parameters of a sorbent and of the sorption of metal cations, targeted at concentrating and separating trace vana-
dium(IV), manganese(II), and chromium(III) from solutions and natural or technogenic (including environ-
mental) objects.
