AbstractPhysical and chemical properties of substituted polystyrene-azosalicylic acids, newly synthesized
chelating polymer sorbents (CPSs), are studied. Correlations are found between the
K

of the functional
groups of the sorbent and the p
50 of chelation with vanadium, manganese, and chromium, with the goal of
studying (metal ion)sorbent interactions. These correlations enable the prediction of the physical and chemical
parameters of a sorbent and of the sorption of metal cations, targeted at concentrating and separating trace vana-
dium(IV), manganese(II), and chromium(III) from solutions and natural or technogenic (including environ-
mental) objects.
