AbstractGadolinium(III) sorption and complexation with azo reagents (ORs) derived from chromotropic
acid at pH 5 and ratio Gd(III) : OR = 1 : 1 was studied by ESR spectrometry. Solid phase used is polymeric fine-
fibered materials filled with highly dispersed AV-17 anion-exchange resin. In the used systems, reagents con-
taining o-sulfo-o'-hydroxyazo group show maximal complexing ability; Gd(III) sorption as a complex with OR
formed in solution is considerably larger than metal sorption on a polymer with immobilized reagent. The fea-
tures of ESR spectrum of Gd(III) ion with low-symmetry environment are discussed.
