Abstract—A brief review is made of the studies of phase diagrams and composition–property diagrams of alu-
minum and magnesium alloys at the Baikov Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science, Russian Academy
of Sciences, Moscow, Russia, in accordance with Academician Kurnakov’s doctrine. The general direction of
the studies and the discovered laws are noted.
